Vegan Mini Heart-Shaped Tortilla Pizzas
Not all Valentine's Day recipes have to be sweet.
Sometimes it’s something savory, warm from the oven, cut into small heart shapes, and arranged on a plate to share. These tiny heart-shaped pizzas are made from a single tortilla: small, crisp, and almost delicate. They bake quickly, with slightly curled edges and intensely flavorful toppings. You do not slice them. You only reach for one.
They are simple, easy to make... And that's precisely why they work!
Especially for such a special day, like Valentine's Day :)
Mini Heart-Shaped Tortilla Pizzas
⏱️ Time & Prep
Prep time: 10 minutesBake time: 8–10 minutes
Total time: ~20 minutes
Yield: 8–10 mini hearts (from 1 large tortilla)
Ingredients
- 1 large tortilla
- ¼ cup thick tomato passata
- ¼ teaspoon dried oregano
- ¼ teaspoon dried basil
- ¼ teaspoon ground sweet paprika
- Tiny pinch of cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- ¼ cup grated plant-based cheese
- 2 tablespoons finely diced red bell pepper
- 2 tablespoons very thinly sliced zucchini
- 2–3 cherry tomatoes, finely chopped
- ⅓ cup sliced mushrooms
- 2 tablespoons sliced black olives
- ½ small red bell pepper, diced
- Sliced plant-based sausage or salami
- Small handful of fresh arugula (added after baking)
-
Optional: pinch chili flakes for heat
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
-
Using a small knife or cookie cutter, cut 8-10 heart shapes from the tortilla. Place them on the tray.
-
In a small bowl, mix passata with oregano, basil, paprika, cinnamon, and salt.
-
Spread a thin layer of sauce on each heart, leaving a tiny border.
-
Add mushrooms, olives, diced bell pepper, and small slices of plant-based sausage. Keep toppings light so the base stays crisp.
-
Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are golden and crisp.
-
Let cool for 1–2 minutes before serving. They firm up as they rest.
Scatter fresh arugula over the warm mini pizzas just before serving.
Notes / Variations
-
For extra crispness, pre-bake the cut hearts for 2–3 minutes before adding sauce.
-
Finely chopping toppings helps them bake quickly and evenly.
-
Add arugula only after baking so it stays fresh and slightly peppery.
